Who We Are
The Evangelical Free Church of Mankato is a part of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). The EFCA (http://www.efca.org/) is an association of over 1100 churches united by a mutual commitment to serve and cooperate with one another in ministry and fellowship as we seek to fulfill the Great Commission. The growing ministry of the EFCA currently extends to 20 other nations, which includes nearly 1000 additional congregations.
"Evangelical" refers to the belief that the Bible is God’s Word and is filled with insights about how you can find fulfillment in life.
"Free" means that we are free from outside government or church control. "We the people" make the decisions and set the direction for the church.

Our Beliefs
-
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings; the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. II Timothy 3:16
-
We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:18-19, Genesis 1:1, I John 1:5, Psalms 90:2
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary; that He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures; that further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascending into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and advocate. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 1:3, 2:17, Matthew 1:18-23
-
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and, during this age, to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner and indwell, seal, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service. John 14:16-17, 16:7-14, Ephesians 1:13-14
-
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is, therefore, lost, spiritually dead, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. Genesis 1:26, Romans 3:23, 6:23, Ephesians 2:1-3
-
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ, His resurrection and righteousness provide the only ground for justification and salvation of all who believe, and that only such as receive Jesus Christ, by faith, are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God, eternally secure. John 1:12, 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 10:28
-
We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. They are not, however, to be regarded as a means of salvation. Matthew 28:19, I Corinthians 11:23-26
-
We believe that the true church is composed of all such persons who through faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ, of which He is the head. I Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 5:23
-
We believe that only those who are thus members of the true church shall be eligible for membership in the local church. Philemon 1:5
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and head of the church, and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs in accordance with the Bible. I Timothy 3:14-15, Ephesians 5:23
-
We believe in the personal and pre-millennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and this "Blessed Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. I Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 3:10, Matthew 24:44
-
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead; the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. Hebrews 9:27
