When We Meet:
Wednesday Nights
(6:30-8pm)
Wednesday nights
are designed to be enjoyable. It should not be a time that
feels like school. We start off with an ice breaker or two
to get students laughing. Then we do some type of game show
that normally includes two teams battling each other in a
game of useless knowledge or wit. The purpose is to enjoy a
little competition but also build unity within the groups.
The second half of the night consists of one of the leaders
bringing a short message and breaking out into small groups
to discuss the nights topic in more depth. We try to balance
fun and games with lessons that challenge us all to be more
like Christ.
Sunday School
(10:30am)
We split the Jr.
High and Sr. High for Sunday School. We meet during 2nd
Service.
The Sr. High meets in the main area of “The Pit” and is
taught by Tom and Mitzy Johnson. They cover tough questions
about our faith and explore important issues of today. The
Jr. High meet in the locker room, also located downstairs.
They are taught by Youth Pastor Nate Holdeman and his wife
Julie. They attempt to plan creative Bible lessons that
reach the students where they are at.
Where We Meet:
“The
Pit”
For several years now, the youth have been meeting in the
basement of the church. At first, the area was like a
dungeon and the area got named “The Pit.” The basement has
since then been cleared out, cleaned up, and painted. It is
a large area that fits are needs really well. However, the
nickname “The Pit” stuck. It is still called “The Pit” and
the students voted to call themselves “The Pit Crew.” So we
decided to turn it into a racing theme. The basement is now
decorated with racing flags, car hoods, and pennants. It is
a great area for throwing balls around and getting wild in,
but also serves us well in our small group times and Bible
Studies. Come join us in “The Pit” as we race through life
together.
Why We Meet:
Our Purpose Statement
Our Youth Ministry exists to expose teenagers to God’s love,
connect them with other Christians, help them grow in their
faith, and encourage students to honor God with their lives
as well as discover their gifts and put them into practice.
