Evangelical Free Church Of Mankato
Our Beginnings:
In August of 1989, a small group of
people began a home Bible study in Mankato, Minnesota. This small
group of people
incorporated as the
"Evangelical Free Church of Mankato"
on October 9, 1989 and held their first public
worship service on November 12, 1989 at the Holiday Inn Motel in
downtown Mankato under the leadership of Pastor Dan Carlson.
On June 26, 1991, the present facility was purchased.
With the help from the Waseca,
Marshall, East Chain, Fairmont, and Willmar churches the building was
extensively remodeled.
The first worship service was held at this location on December 15,
1991 and the facility was dedicated to the Lord on May 17, 1992.
Scott Pospisil took over as pastor in 1992 and under his leadership
the church went to two services and expanded its programs. He
served as pastor until June of 1995. Pastor Jack Smith served
as our Interim Pastor as we conducted a search for the man God had
chosen to be our current Senior Pastor
Presently:
W. Peter Vander Hook became Senior Pastor in November 1996 and the church
developed a Freedom in Christ ministry, small groups, and adapted a
Purpose-Driven Church philosophy of ministry.
Nate Holdeman
became Youth Pastor in September 2002 and began to build an
effective junior/senior high youth ministry.
Steve Bailey came on staff as the
Equipping Pastor in December 2006 to help organize our small group
ministry and help assimilate new people into our church family.
The church is growing
as it ministers to predominately young growing families through
exciting worship experiences, small groups, AWANA Clubs, Sunday
School, youth ministry, and short term mission trips.
